The Wonderful World of Sidy Boy

Sidy Boy is pronounced as "City Boy", and he is a Miniature Schnauzer. When this site started, Sidy was the "new puppy" in the house, and I named the site after him. Of course, back then this site was only about my personal pets, and now it has grown into much more... and Sidy is now known worldwide!

Sidy Boy is the second youngest of my Schnauzers. He's three years old, and still in the "I'm gonna do what I wanna do" stage. He's into everything- just as if I had a toddler here.

Sidy came to me in a different way. We actually intended on getting a puppy. We already had Sammie and Simon, and my mother wanted a third Schnauzer (we had NO idea of what we were getting into!). She had the name "Sidney" picked out, and my job was to come up with the dog.

We had a puppy at work who was ill. He had a yellow discharge coming from his nose, and the vet they were using couldn't figure out what the problem was. When Sidy was nine weeks old, my boss brought him to the kennel for him to stay there. I was busy at the time, and didn't get a chance to look at him right away. About a half an hour before closing time, I laid eyes on this little snot nosed pup for the first time. I called my boss instantly and offered her $700 for the dog, as is. She refused to sell him to me- said I was nuts for wanting to pay full price for an ill dog. So I said $300, still nothing. Finally I got her to agree to something. I'd take him to the vet, pay all the vet expenses, but I wanted to use MY vet. I took Sid in, and had a total profile done on him- and he was fine- no liver problem, no heart murmur-nothing. His only problem was Acid Reflux, which is what caused his runny nose.

At that point, my boss wasn't sure what to do. The pup could be sold as soon as he got over this problem, but for a lower price to a pet owner, or, she could make a deal with me, which she did. I paid off all his vet bills before I took him, and traded my paid vacation. I got the vacation, but didn't get the pay for it.

He is a wild pup- loves to torment Homer as much as possible. Those two are constantly playing Tug O' War (imagine a 14 pound dog playing Tug O' War with a 136 pound dog!). Sid just int a Sidney though... so we had to change his name to Sidy Boy, which he is... a wild City Boy! He's actually supposed to be out of the "puppy stage", but we still have to keep the house totally childproof. If anything is left out that can possibly be destroyed, Sidy will find it! He has never been one to demolish shoes, but he does like to take them and run from you- just as you are trying to put them on!

Sidy has really impressed me- When I brought home Scamp, I figured it would be a very hard time getting him to like the new puppy..... Sidy was scared of the new pup for a few days, but soon became best buddies! Sidy and Scamp spend most of their time racing through the house with their toys- trying to take each others stuff. Now and then things get a tad out of hand, but for the most part, they have a lot of great times together.

When Oliver entered the house, it was massive chaos. Oliver loved everyone and just wanted to be accepted, however Sidy had to be a bad ass and try to kill him. Sidy hated Oliver and would not give him a chance for days- but now things are much better. He is in no way at all in love with Oliver being here, however he does understand that Oliver is here to stay, and he keeps his bullying to a minimum most of the time.

The funny thing is though- Oliver isn't allowed to go sleep near Sidy, but Sidy will go and lay on top of Oliver and go to sleep. I suppose it's all about dominance.
