Utonagan Information
The Utonagan is a fairly new breed that has only been around since the 1980's. The breed has been selectively bred from Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies and German Shepherds. The goal is to create a dog that resembles the wolf as closely as possible, however keeping a wonderful temperament.
They fit in well with children and other pets. However, they are not a dog that likes to be left alone and problems such as escaping and they may also become destructive. As a "pack" dog they are better suited to the company of another dog, or dogs, unless you can give them your full time companionship.
Males should be 25-33 inches tall and weigh 70-110 pounds. Females should be 24-29 inches tall and weigh 55-90 pounds. They have a thick double coat, straight and slightly coarse to the touch. They can be silver gray, cream, or brown with black overlay and wolf mask.
