German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue Groups
The German Shorthaired Pointer was developed in Germany in the middle 1800's. The average German hunter could not afford several sporting dogs so they needed one all purpose hunting dog that had a good nose, was reliable in water retrieval, aggressive toward predators and very obedient. Several German and possibly French scent hounds were crossed with Spanish Pointers, and those dogs bred to English Pointers. Read More >>
