The Anatolian Shepherd originated in Turkey. They were developed to be able to withstand the harsh climate and have since evolved to endure the nomadic lifestyle as shepherds. For centuries they were used as a combat dog in war and for hunting. They were mainly valued for the battles they fought with the wolves.
