The Pyrenean Mastiff
The Pyrenean Mastiff originated in Spain in 3000 BC. Like the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, the Mastiff descended from dogsbrought to Spain by early Mediterranean seafarers.
Althought the Pyrenean Mastiff is slightly smaller than the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, they share common ancestry. The Mastiff is robustly built, symmetrical, with a large head and powerful neck.
For its enourmous size, this breed has a small appetitie and is light on its feet. The Pyrenean Mastiff should be 28 and a half to 34 inches tall and weigh 120-155 pounds. Another name for the breed is the Perro Mastin del Pireneo.
