The Podengo Portugueso Medio
The Podengo Portugueso Medio originated in Portugal in the 1600s. The sight hounds of northern Africa were probably used in the development of the Podengo breeds, although it is thought that this medium-size version descended directly from the Podengo Portugueso Grande, and is of more recent origin.
Both smoot haired and wire haired forms of the Medio are bred, with fawn and white colors tending to be predominate, although yellow and black with white markings are seen as well.
The Podengo Portugueso Medio is the most popular Podengo breed in its homeland due to its size.
They should be 15-22 inches tall and weigh 35-44 pounds. Another name for the Podengo Portugueso Medio is the Medium Portuguese Hound.
