Mountain Cur Information
The Mountain Cur was developed around the late 1950's for hunting. They are willing and able to track squirrels, raccoons, and other big game. They are quick and agile workers with a keen nose that track their scent with their head up hoping to find a hot track.
They are agile enough to quickly cover rough hunting terrain and a brave fighter when necessary. They are a medium sized dog, strongly built with lots of stamina. Males should be 18-26 inches tall, females 16-24 inches tall.
Their coats can be smooth or rough, and can be black (often with tan or brindle points), blue, brindle, brown, red, yellow, blond, or buttermilk buckskin colors. A small amount of white markings are allowed.
These dogs are very intelligent and willing to please, and also makes a great watchdog as well as family pet. Grooming is minimal-bathing, brushing, nail trimming and ear cleaning as needed.
