The "Lasset" is a mixture of Basset Hound and Labrador Retriever. The dog is long-backed and heavy boned like a Basset Hound with the coat texture and coloring of the Labrador Retriever. They also shed as badly as a Labrador Retriever with the oily buildup of the Basset Hound.
Due to the Lab coat type and oil from the Basset, this dog will need bathed fairly often in order to cut down on the amount of oil as well as the doggy smell. Just petting this dog a few times gave you an oily residue on your hands that didn't smell real good either- so one could only assume that this odor was transferred to the dogs home- on the carpet, and any bedding he was on.
The dog in the picture on this page was very sweet and welcomed strangers. Not all may be like this- a great deal depends on the socialization of the individual puppy as well as the temperament of the parents.
