Kangal Dog Information
Due to centuries of selective breed, many of the livestock guardian dogs have great head size and jaw strength which is needed to take on the wolves, bears and snow leopards.
The Kangal Dog tends to bark less than the other livestock guarding breeds which may be an indication of their
Mastiff influence.
The Kangal Dog was unknown by non Turkish people until the late 1970's when the breed was first documented and described in English by David Nelson.
Kangal Dog's are calm, independent and protective. Towards strangers, they may be aloof however with their family the are very loving. With visitors that he knows, he is friendly and also especially fond of children.
