Jagdterrier Information
The Jagdterrier is a fairly young breed, having only developed since the turn of the century. They were developed in Germany as a hunting dog and are also used on a wide variety of game including wild boar, badger, weasel and fox.
They are very clever hunters, unafraid of the most formidable wild game. They have a great deal of energy and desire to hunt. Due to their energy level, they should not be kept only as a pet. The Jagdterrier needs to be very active outdoors and craves the hunt.
They have a smooth and harsh coat, or any texture in between. The coat must be very thick and abundant to resist briars, cold and water. Coloring should be black, black and gray or dark brown. They stand between 13 to 16 inches tall and weigh 16 to 22 pounds, females generally smaller.
