Hygenhund Information
The Hygenhund was developed in Norway in the 1800's by Norwegian enthusiast, F. Hygen, using Holsteiner hounds from Germany crossed with various Scandinavian hounds. They were developed for stamina, and tend to hunt singly with its owner.
The Hygenhund is often described as "short coupled" because it has a relatively short, compact body. The Hygenhund has been bred in several coat colors, but the yellow variety with white markings tends to be the most common.
They should be between 18 and a half to 23 inches tall and weigh between 44-53 pounds. Another name for the Hygenhund is the Hygenhound.
