Haldenstovare Information
The Haldenstovare originated in Norway in the 1800's. Named after the city of Halden in southeastern Norway, not far from the Swedish border. The Haldenstovare is the result of crossings of the local hounds with Swedish, German and British hound stock.
The Haldenstovare has a distinctive tricolor coat that is predominantly white, with black and tan markings on particular areas of the body. It is the largest of the four recognized stovare breeds. They should be 20-25 inches tall and weigh 51-64 pounds.
The Haldenstovare is also known as the Halden Hound.
