Grand Bleu de Gascogne Information
The Grand Bleu de Gascogne descended from the original scenting dogs of Gaul and the Phoenician hound trade. They are one of the two types from which most modern hound breeds developed.
These dogs were used for hunting in packs by the 14th century and used on wolves, bears, deer and boars.
Typically these dogs do not make good pets, but are wonderful as hunting companions.
The Grand Bleu de Gascogne should be between 25 to 28 inches tall and they should weigh 80-120 pounds. Their coats are white mottled with black which gives them a slate blue overall appearance. There are black patches on either side of the head and a white area on the top of the head.
