Blue Lacy Information
In 1858 the Lacy brothers arrived in Texas from Kentucky with their dogs. Their dogs were the result of crossings with the Greyhound, some sort of scent hound and Coyote. Many have theories about which type of scent hound was uses and claim it was the Redbone Coonhound. These dogs had a great ability to pick up the trails of any game animal or find any wounded animal with a minimal blood trail. These are now the most common breed used by trappers.
Blue Lacy owners claim they are the perfect all around dog and tend to know where to be at the right time. They are easy to handle, great workers and very loving pets. Other than tracking, they are also used for hog hunting, treeing game, herding, droving and being a watch dog.
These dogs need a great deal of attention and exercise to be kept happy.
