Blackmouth Cur Information
Many claim that the Blackmouth Cur originated in Tennessee, while others state that they originated in Mississippi. Either way, these dogs were widely used by the early American settlers as an all around working dog. As Americans moved west, the Blackmouth Cur moved with them, serving as a guardian and hunting dog.
Blackmouth Cur's are very fast, agile and powerful dogs. They are very protective of their land and family. They're not overly loud like many hounds tend to be, however if unhappy they may bay like hounds do.
Blackmouth Cur males should be no less than 18 inches tall and weigh at least 40 pounds, females should be at least 16 inches tall and weigh at least 35 pounds.
