Berner Laufhund Information
The Berner Laufhund originated in Switzerland around the 1000's. These hounds have been used by Swiss Alpine hunters for about 900 years. The formation of the Swiss Hound Club in 1931 is largely responsible for the preservation of this breed.
This breed of hound has a narrow head and long, folded ears. Its body is long but not heavy, with strong, well-boned legs. The Berner Laufhund's soft undercoat is covered with a harder, tricolor outer coat.
The Berner Laufhund is also called the Bernese Hound.
