American Alsatian Information

|
|
The American Alsatian is a breed that is still in development. Breeders have been working on this project for around twenty years now, in order to produce a more suitable family dog that is meant to resemble a large wolf.
Breeds that were used to develop the American Alsatian were German Shepherds, Alaskan Malamutes, Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees.
The dogs used to develop this line were selectively chosen for their temperaments- hyper, highly vocal dogs were not used in the breeding program. These dogs are said to have solid temperaments and be much more laid back pets.
The American Alsatian is a large dog, being no shorter than 24 inches and some dogs being as large as 28 inches. They have a great deal of bone and are very heavy dogs. Their coats are coarse, thicker during the winter months. The coat can be any color, however Timberwolf Gray is the most desirable.
During the summer, the Alsatian Sepal sheds a great deal. Brushing/combing a couple of times a week will help keep it under control.
